Barbara’s Handmade Baskets
Broom Making – $50
Limit 12 Students per Class
Class Schedule:
Thursday: 1pm-5pm
Friday: 8am-12pm
Saturday: 8am-12pm
I’m Barbara Boone and I am 74 years old. I worked in factories until I retired in March 2022. Less than a year after I retired, my younger sister, Brenda, was diagnosed with terminal cancer. She worked over 30 years in the health department, taking care of children.
So Brenda decided she wanted to teach someone to weave baskets before she passed away and she chose me. I had never woven any up to that point. Sometimes I would take her to have her treatments and then for the rest of the day she would try to teach me to weave. She didn’t want anyone else there when we were weaving.
After Brenda passed away, I continued to weave, and I have really enjoyed it. I think of Brenda with every basket I make. I also think of all the times I made mistakes and she would make me take it out. That makes a person a better Weaver. So if you take one of my classes or buy one of my baskets be assured, you were getting the best that I can do.
